1 Day Lake Naivasha Safari from Nairobi in a private 4×4 Pop-up Safari Land Cruiser encompasses Lake Naivasha, Hell’s Gate & Crescent Island.
Lake Naivasha
The Lake is a freshwater lake with a dense population of animals such as hippos and several species of birds. Travelers enjoy riding on waters with the help of boat operators at a favorable fee. Near Lake Naivasha is the The Hell’s Gate National Park.
Hell’s Gate National Park
Named for the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries, the Hell’s Gate National Park is a remarkable quarter of the Great Rift Valley. Spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam make it one of the most atmospheric Parks in Africa.
Hell’s Gate is an ideal venue for a nature walk where, in addition to the bio-diversity that includes raptors, visitors can enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing. The park inhabits the African buffalo, zebra, eland, hartebeest, Thomson’s gazelle and baboons in common.
The park is also home to klipspringer antelope and Chandler’s mountain reedbuck. Hell’s Gate National Park is also rich in prolific birdlife – there are over 100 species of birds in the park, including vultures, Verreaux’s Eagles, augur buzzard and swifts.
Crescent Island
Crescent Island is Naivasha’s best kept secret and is accessible by boat and road across the swampy causeway from Sanctuary Farm. In 1988, the water in Lake Naivasha dropped significantly which allowed the creation of Crescent Island.
Because this animal and bird sanctuary has more animals per acre than any other Kenyan park, a lot of films have been shot of waterbucks, wildebeests, and zebras at this location.
Giraffes, hippos, pythons, buffaloes, and hyenas frequent Crescent Island, some to graze and others to calve.
This sanctuary opens its doors from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and guided walks take about 3 hours.
