5 Days Giants of Africa Safari takes you to Amboseli National Park famous for its enormous elephants. Tsavo East, the sight of dust-red elephant wallowing, rolling and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of palm-shaded Galana River. Finally, Tsavo West is rich in wildlife. Mzima springs is also a remarkable sight as you watch various species of fish. Crocodiles and hippos are also present here.

5 Days Giants of Africa Safari Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

Your Safari will start at 7:00 am with pick up from Airport or Nairobi Residence. After briefing drive to Amboseli National Park passing through the vast plains and African savannah with sightings of Masai homesteads. You will arrive at your lodge in time for lunch. You will have an introductory afternoon game drive in the park with a perfect view of Africa’s highest mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro. Against this magnificent backdrop roams vast herds of elephants accompanied by a mixture of other fabulous beasts like lion, buffalos, cheetahs and giraffes to name but a few.

Accommodation: Amboseli Sopa Lodge or Similar

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner

Day 2: Full Day in Amboseli National Park

Rise up early for breakfast and embark on an early morning game drive with good views of Mount Kilimanjaro before clouds build up over the summit with packed lunch provided. Despite its changing habitat, Amboseli National Park is possibly the best wildlife area in the whole of Africa to experience elephant at close range. Our game drives will take you to the observation hill to have a better overall view of the park including the adjacent marshy swamps. Wildlife is abundant in this park together with pelicans and other bird species. Your game viewing will be spread to cover the open plains, acacia woodland, rocky thorn bush country, swamps and marshland.

Day 3: Amboseli – Tsavo West National Park

On this day you will have an option of either going for pre-breakfast game viewing drive before sunrise when nature is at its best with the predators out for the hunt and the grazers browsing the soft, dewy vegetation or visit the nearby Maasai Village Community. Return to your lodge/camp for breakfast. Considered the most iconic tribal group in all of Africa, the Maasai are the dominant ethnic group surrounding Amboseli National Park. The community as managed to retain many of their traditions as they live largely untouched by modern day civilization. The Maasai Village is made structures known as ‘Manyatta’, which are low height dwellings, essentially huts, made of mud, cow dung and wood, with a single entrance and minimal side windows.

Return to your hotel at 07:30hrs for breakfast and later on check out and embark on your journey to Tsavo West National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch followed with an afternoon or evening game drive. Tsavo West is the most visited section in Tsavo National Park, offering many attractions apart from its wildlife. The foremost is the famous Mzima Springs where up to 227.3 million liters of cool crystal-clear water flows out of the ground through porous volcanic rocks. The water is believed to originate from Chuyulu Hills, via an underground river.

Day 4: Tsavo West – Tsavo East National Park

After breakfast, depart for Tsavo East National Park arriving in the afternoon. Visit the Rhino sanctuary during this en route scenic game viewing safari. Arrive at your lodge/camp for check-in and lunch followed by an afternoon game drive. Large heard of red-skinned elephants and Man-eaters (lions) of Tsavo define this ark. One of the Park’s most recognizable features is the Yatta Plateau, which is the longest lava flow in the World. The Park is home to a good population of Giraffe, Zebra, Impala Gazelles, and Buffalo. Large prides of Lions, Leopards and Cheetah represent predators in the park.

Day 5: Tsavo East – Nairobi

Pre-breakfast game viewing drive before sunrise when nature is at its best with the predators out for the hunt and the grazers browsing the soft, dewy vegetation. Return to your lodge/camp for breakfast. Thereafter checkout and drive back to Nairobi. Depending on your flight details, you can organize with your guide for a Nairobi City Tour there after a transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your homebound flight.
