3 Days Masai Mara Safari Day by Day Itinerary


Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara National Reserve

Your safari starts with pick up from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or your Nairobi Hotel at 07:00hrs as you head to Masai Mara National Reserve. For approximately 5-6 hours you will be skirting around Mount Suswa and Narok town. First highlight of the journey is the glimpse of East Africa’s Great Rift Valley. Covering approximately 7000kms, the valley runs from Lebanon in Asia to Mozambique in South East Asia. You will arrive at your camp in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive to explore the Masai Mara.

Day 2: Full Day in Masai Mara National Reserve

You can opt to start your day with an early Hot Air Balloon (at an extra cost of $450 Per Person) which usually starts with pick from your lodge or camp at 04:30hrs and ends at 08:00hrs with a champaign bush breakfast. Those not taking park in the hot air balloon will be picked up from hotel at 08:00hrs after breakfast and proceed to Masai Mara National Reserve for a full day game drive.

Masai Mara National Reserve is famous for The Big Five animals (Elephant, Lion, Leopard, Rhinos and Buffalo). What amazes travelers in this reserve is the annual migration of wildebeests. The animals shift on July and return on November and is among the seventh wonder of the world. The park has the largest concentration of African lions, including the black-maned lion. Bird life is in plenty as wildlife at the Mara, which boasts over 400 different bird species.

Day 3: Masai Mara – Nairobi

Rise up for an early morning authentic Maasai Village visit before breakfast at 06:00hrs to experience how the Maasai community live. Considered the most iconic tribal group in all of Africa, the Maasai are the dominant ethnic group surrounding the Masai Mara National Reserve. The community as managed to retain many of their traditions as they live largely untouched by modern day civilization. The Maasai Village is made structures known as ‘Manyatta’, which are low height dwellings, essentially huts, made of mud, cow dung and wood, with a single entrance and minimal side windows.

Return to your hotel at 07:30hrs for breakfast and later on check out and embark on your journey back to Nairobi. Depending on your flight details, you can organize with your guide for a Nairobi City Tour there after a transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your homebound flight.
