11 Days Kenya Wildlife Safari Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi

Welcome at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. On arrival meet and greet by our representative followed with a transfer to the Hotel and do check In. Depending on your arrival time breakfast can be arranged followed with 2-3 hours of freshening up and resting. You will later depart for Giraffe Centre where you will interact with giraffes and also learn about the sanctuary for approximately one hour.

The Giraffe Center was first opened in response to the endangered status of the Rothschild giraffe, the population of which had declined, reaching a low of 130 animals in the wild as a result of agricultural practices in their native habitat. Successful fundraising efforts secured money to move four herds of these graceful animals to Lake Nakuru National Park, Nasalot Game Reserve, Mwea Game Reserve and Ruma National Park, and the success of these efforts has increased the population to over 500 individual giraffes in Kenya alone.

At around noon you will leave the Giraffe Center for Karen Blixen Coffee where you will enjoy your lunch until 2 pm. After lunch you will proceed to the nearby Bomas of Kenya for an afternoon filled with traditional Kenyan cultural performances. The site was founded in 1971 by the Kenya Tourist Development Corporation to preserve the ancient traditions of the Kenyan people by building local and international awareness and advocacy.

Bomas of Kenya is a cultural tour of Kenya’s major ethnic groups, such as Mijikenda, Luo, Taita, Embu, Maasai, Kikuyu, Kamba, Kalenjin, Luhya, Kisii, Kuria to name just a few of the native peoples that are represented at the venue. Daily performances include a selection of more than 30 traditional dances of the different ethnic groups in Kenya, and one of the most impressive performances is the Samburu and Maasai warriors. Hosted events may also include music, theater, fashion show, poetry readings, sports, seminars and many other activities.
