Open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife. Some of the Animals found in the park include the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded. Visitors enjoy the park’s picnic sites, three campsites and the walking trails for hikers.

Elephant Orphanage

David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Elephant Orphanage was started to baby elephants who had lost their mothers due to poaching, drought, habitat destruction, or human-wildlife conflict. Once the endangered animals grow to maturity they are then released back into the wild.

Giraffe Center

Giraffe Center was started in 1979 by the late Jock Leslie-Melville, a Kenyan citizen of British descent after discovering the sad plight of the Rothschild Giraffe. It’s main purpose is to educate Kenyan school children and youth on their country’s wildlife and environment, as well as give local and international visitors an opportunity to come into close contact with the world’s tallest species, the giraffe.
