Baringo & Bogoria
Lake Baringo is a renowned wildlife and birdlife sanctuary. The lake sustains crocodiles, hippos, hyrax and land animals such as giraffes found in Ruko Island Conservancy. A large number of flamingos have been witnessed in the recent years due to the rapid increase of the level of the waters in the lake.
Travellers to the lake are able to observe yellow storks and pink backed pelicans. Fishing spots are also popular attractions for this Island. Lake Bogoria is a shallow saltwater lake to the southern part of rift valley. Interesting features in this sanctuary include geysers which jet from the lake and rise 5 meters above the surface of water. The lake is surrounded by a game reserve which shelters wild animals such as antelopes, monkeys and birds.
